The Need
In 3 weeks, I am heading there for a 2 to 3 month teaching trip, instructing children in French across literature, math, science, and world history, alongside teaching English. During my time there, I will be supplying the teachers with necessary classroom materials, completely rebuilding the school website, and covering some yearly salaries so students can attend school for completely free. To sustain this impact beyond my trip, I have set up a fundraiser to send extra supplies and hire more teachers for the future.
The urgency of this mission becomes clear when looking at the daily challenges these families face:
Exploitation
Madagascar is heavily reliant on farming, but without foundational education, families face severe hurdles. Kids grow up vulnerable to being exploited and cheated out of fair pay simply because they lack basic math skills (97% of the children).
Agricultural Failure
Crops frequently fail because agricultural instructions cannot be read, an issue impacting many there. Equipping these students with reading and math skills gives them the tools to overcome these barriers.
Barriers
Without access to proper foundational education, families remain trapped in cycles of limited opportunity. Equipping these children with reading and math skills changes everything because it protects them, secures their futures, and sets them up for lasting success.
